LOCATION
Located in the beautiful Willamette Valley Corvallis, Albany and the surrounding area communities lie nestled between two mountain ranges in a fertile temperate valley. It’s roughly 1 hour's drive to the coast (west), 1 ˝ hours from the Cascade Mountains (east) 1 ˝ hours to Portland (north) and 3 hours to Bend and the High Desert.
WEATHER
Located as it is, the Corvallis, Albany area provides us with a mild climate and seasonal changes which keep our area beautiful all year. It rains just enough to keep our environment lovely and green year-round, but we have twice as many consecutive sunny days than rainy days. Daytime temperatures average from 40°F in winter to the upper 80's in summer with about 40 inches of annual rainfall.
CORVALLIS
Corvallis, meaning “heart of the valley” is the county seat and largest city (population a little over 50,000) for Benton County. Home to Oregon State University and the world's largest Hewlett-Packard campus, this tree filled city is the quintessential college town with a lack of commuting hassles, yet an increasingly "vital urban feel". In the past few years, Corvallis has been recognized several times as a fine place to live by such publications as Men’s Journal, Offspring Magazine, Parade, and Frommer’s “Cities Ranked and Rated”.
ALBANY
Albany, the county seat for Linn County, is located adjacent to I-5 and has a population of close to 45,000 residents. Albany is home to Oregon's largest group of past architectural styles, including every major style popular in the U.S. since 1850. Albany is a thriving community with affordable housing, a central retail center, home to Linn-Benton Community College, industries like wood products, food processing and rare metal production, an important agricultural area and home to the main campus of Linn-Benton Community College .
SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
The Corvallis and Albany area is offers a wide variety of recreational and cultural activities. Running and biking are favorite pastimes in Corvallis. Bike lanes are included on most streets, and there are routes along the Willamette and Mary's rivers. There are campgrounds, hiking, picnic areas, fishing, hunting, camping and snow skiing areas and many more activities available in the nearby forests and mountains. Both towns have numerous parks, plays, concerts, art exhibits, lectures, films and festivals, a variety of dining experiences as well as all types of college sports. In July, Corvallis celebrates Da Vinci Days, a three day festival celebrating arts, science and technology. Albany sponsors River Rhythms, in July and August, a free weekly concert series features nationally known bands performed along the river in Monteith Park. August brings hot air balloons to the valley during Albany’s Northwest Air and Art Festival. Corvallis hosts more 170 artist and craftsmen, free musical performances and a street dance. The fertile mid-valley area is also home to several award winning wineries several local microbreweries and weekly farmer’s markets.
